You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive

For those of you who are wondering what the heck this title means....
The view from our cabin.

Downtown Harlan.
My spring break started Saturday morning at 4:30 am loading up a bus with 38 other people in preparation to leave for Harlan County, KY. This trip was through my school's University Ministry and Service, and their collaboration with COAP. For seven amazing days 36 college students and three adult coordinators worked hand in hand in order to work on homes to benefit the people of Harlan.
Working hard on the roof!
The best part, however, was the action that went down after work. I was fortunate enough to spend time with a group of very talented, funny and overall awesome individuals.
One of the many outdoor jam sessions.
An impromptu tango.
And a world class trendsetter.
My experience in Harlan was like no other. I encourage you all to go out and volunteer! You will never know how much of a difference you have made until you come face-to-face with the people you are helping, and it'll only inspire you to do more.

Stay Phree. Stay Phierce
